WireTaps

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Some interesting news I just ran into is about the 2007 wiretapping statistics (the ‘non-secret’ ones). They show that the number of wiretaps have gone up 20% since the 2006. Mainly good has come from this for law enforcement officers, and for the general safety of the public. 81 percent of the targets were those involved in drug related crimes, while 6 percent were used to catch people involved with murder and assault.

By wiretapping these wireless devices, law enforcement officers have been able to make some big drug busts. Including one where they were able to arrest 105 people, and another that led to the confiscation of 40 pounds of methamphetamine, 4 kilos of cocaine, and $700,000.

Many people complain about this being an ‘invasion of privacy’ but if you’re not doing anything illegal you probably don’t have to worry about it, and if they can catch dozens of drug traffickers by tapping their phones, then more power to them. I hope they have even greater success this year.

Believe It Or Not

A group of German technology developers have just come out with a new patent on a phone chip that can send scents via text messaging. Apparently they have been working on these chips for 8 years and could be releasing them to the public by 2010.

There will be about 100 different smells available on these new phones. The researchers have so far only worked on floral and other enjoyable scents, but the possibilities are endless. In order to use this type of technology you would need to have a special phone, and luckily these phones will have the option to reject a message if you choose to.

So if you’re missing the smell of the ocean breeze, or want to send a loved one a virtual bouquet, once these new smell-phones come out, you will be able to do it all.

With India being the one of the best, and most popular places to outsource to, it is also very important to have a good, clear communication with those you work with. Trueroots is an online phone card service, that offers this at the lowest price out there.

Calls are sent on one of the worlds largest submarine cable infrastructures. By using this latest, most reliable technology, the calls are able to be crystal clear, and remain uninterrupted.

If India is a part of business for you, it may be wise to start using an India prepaid calling card from Trueroots.
