Voice over IP phones are the future of phone services. Sooner or later this stuff is going to catch on and spread like wildfire and be used in every home and business in America. Just like any other kind of new technology, it takes a little while for people to feel comfortable using it. The one thing that helps to speed that process up is when the new technology becomes very inexpensive and easy-to-use and that is exactly what is happening with VoIP phones.
VoIP has actually been around for a little while now but until recently it still only seemed feasible for large or small business that had even a small budget to get started. However, VoIP phones, adapters, and services are being offered at such a price that everyone is going to jump in. Here’s an example, Packet 8 is a company that offers the type of inexpensive Business VoIP solution that I’m talking about. You can get started for almost nothing, and I mean nothing. You can use your existing business phones and they will send you free adapters or they will send you free business class phones. You can get started tomorrow with a Packet8 Virtual Office plane and all you would have to pay is a $40 start up fee and then just your monthly fee ($59) after that.
So what kind of service do you get with something like this? Here’s quick list:
- Unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
- Unlimited worldwide network calls with any Packet8 subscriber
- Business class voicemail
- A unique direct inbound dial (DID) telephone number
- Auto-attendant routing and switchboard viewing.
That’s just a few things I found when looking into it. I’m sure you can find more. My point with all this is that once somebody starts offering something for free, people get over their uncertainties about rather quickly. And that is exactly what is happening with VoIP.
