Microsoft Xbox price cut is a good idea

The $50 price cut on the Microsoft Xbox gaming consoles is a great idea. I say that not just because I’m a consumer. It’s a great strategy. Sony announced they would cut the price on their 60GB playstation 3 model but received a lot of criticism when it became know that the reason for the price cut was that they had taken the 60GB model out of production and would replace it with an 80GB model at a higher price. While Microsoft, on the other hand, is pretty straight forward about their reasons for price reduction; reach a broader audience, keep the price distance from PS3, and close the price gap on Nintendo Wii.

Now, when you’re looking to purchase a gaming console, and your heart isn’t already set on one system, you will see that the prices for each console are: $249 for Wii, $279 for Xbox, and $499 for PS3. That PS3 had better be twice the system if they expect me to pay twice as much for it and I just don’t think they have achieved that.  My money would definitely go with Xbox or Wii.  And I’m still not sold on the Wii wand so I would go with the Xbox.
