What to do about Identity Theft

The more consumers move to online shopping the more concerned they become with identity theft. If you know of someone who has had there credit destroyed because of identity theft, or if it has happened to you, then you know how frustrating it can be. However, identity theft should not be just a concern of online consumers. Digging through garbage and stealing physical documents has long been a means for criminals to steal another persons identity.

So how do you prevent identity theft? Well some time ago, I came across a website that claimed to have the solution. The company, LifeLock, has since become quite popular as they have positioned themselves as a capable source of protecting your identity. I don’t have time to give the details about how they do it but their website does (http://www.lifelock.com). I know for as little as $10/month they are extremely confident that they will protect your identity. In fact, they are so confident that the companies CEO, Todd Davis, gives out his social security number on the website. You might remember seeing the tv commercial of that. One other cool feature that is included is something they call “WalletLock” which works to cancel and replace all documents and personal identifying information inside a wallet if it is lost or stolen.
